Going for a "spansken" as they say in Norway.
The facts of life may well have passed me by where books, bookmakers and sucker bets are concerned but if there's one thing I fail to understand despite my expensive state-sponsored education is: why Veendam are 7,40 to win at Excelsior tonight.
Fact: Veendam have won their last three after a season opening that promised everything but the Goudens Gids Oscar.
Fact: Excelsior lost two weeks ago to Heracles who promptly lost last week to our very own Veendam.
The odds cry out loudly for a home win but one thing I never oppose is a winning team and call me Mr Silly but Veendam gets my 2 guilders tonight

Veendam @ 7,40
Good luck to all from Peter who only posts today as a reminder to Chriscol who forgot to post his hockey bets on which I've become rather dependent.

Ajax-AZ Alkmaar
Ajax are off to Spain in midweek to play Celta Vigo in the Champion's League.
AZ have won 7 of 9 games so far and already include the scalp of PSV and their second place in the Dutch top flight looks genuine.
They've conceded 5 goals in these 9 games and Pinnacle is offering +1¼ goals at better than evens. For the really brave the outright win is put at 7.00.

Only team news I have managed to ferret out (all unconfirmed) is that the following won't be turning out today for Ajax: Jari Litmanen, Hatem Trabelsi, John O'Brien, Jelle van Damme, Steven Pienaar and Rafael van der Vaart.

I lived in alkmaar--city of cheese-- for about a year in the mid 90's.
It suited my melancholic disposition all too well i'm afraid.
as for the club, they have generally been horrible, but the weather
and emotional outlook could be on the improve.Providing a balm
for all of us. ciao

Nice of you to remember me, Dick.

I believe we bet against the city of cheese at our peril this year.
Lost narrowly to Ajax last weekend (though the +1¼ goal bet came in) and it looks like AZ are going to drag the 3 points back home with them tonight from a tricky assignment in Breda.
They're quite possibly a pubic hair's breadth away from the PSV and Ajax standard but they've played some pretty impressive blitzkreig football and as far as AZ and better than evens bets are concerned: take 'em!
